Dating myself, but I had a viewer like that in the 60s, I'm pretty sure. I had the Flintstones and a disk of caverns w/ cool stalactites and such. What a fun idea!!

As always, you are right on the pulse of the zeitgeist, Sarah! And here I thought buying custom film holders and anti-Newton Ring glass for my 35mm and medium format films will be enough love for it. Needy scanners.... (-_-)Thanks. The trip so far has been busy as per usual. Though this time, I'm only working for this first week and the second week I am playing tour guide for my sister and her husband and also some family time too. Sounds great right? We'll see... Mmm...family... Anyway, back to work!

Hmmm…maybe that’s what I’m missing. Good vibes to the scanner huh? Newton Rings are caused by transparent items like film or the cover of a polaroid touching the glass. That causes these concentric circles to appear. There are anti-newton ring glass (essentially half frosted glass) that can be used to get rid of it when scanning film but yeah...Polaroids are a different story. It just might be the glass on your scanner that is not susceptible to Newton Rings. I've heard of people making their own holders that will lift the Polaroids juuuuuust over the glass so it's still in focus but not touching...but I am about as far from handy as can be...oh well. I'll figure something out.I travel to Japan for work frequently. I used to come here about once a month or so. At least 10 times a year. But this year, due to the earthquake and myself avoiding the summer because of the ridiculous heat combined with power saving measures due to the earthquake, I've been here the least number of times at 7....Tokyo is business as usual. You would be hard pressed to find anything that has changed due to the earthquake. Of course the nuke plant is still an issue as is the rebuilding of the Tohoku area. But yeah...at least in Tokyo it's back to normal, both for business and for life in general :)

Nope. Nothing to do with light bouncing. Perhaps the trick was that I literally covered the entire flatbed with photos and it reduced the amount of light bouncing around in there? (I'm also kind of superstitious and try to send good vibes to my technological devices. Have you tried this? ;->)And, I totally agree on the Chocolate. :)What are you doing in Japan? How are things over there these days?

Hmmm… I’m really not sure. Interesting...I'll have to see how I can get rid of them...I'm very much used to the "just let it develop and enjoy what you get" style of the TIP films. For better or for worse. I will keep supporting them in hopes that it will continue to improve! At least someone is trying to keep this format alive! ...now...if they can only reproduce more of that Chocolate film for my land camera...mmmm....(Sorry for the late reply. In Japan for work yet again!)

Hmmm…I scan mine on my Epson flatbed film scanner too but I get those rings all the time.
