Although I have had the chance to spend some time in Ohio every summer since I left at age 17, I never cease to be mesmerized by its magic that time of year. The landscape is so incredibly lush and green, and the days seem so long with the sun setting around 9.30 p.m. at the solstice. If I could take photos of the fragrance of summer in Ohio, that would truly be the way to encapsulate it. But these photos will have to suffice to conjure the scents of evergreens, honeysuckle, and green grass wafting in the fresh air.
These photos were taken in Columbia Station, Ohio, not far from a wildlife preservation. It seemed like some of the wildlife came around to pose for me. See if you can spot the heron’s reflection in the image with the pond. And, check out that frog clinging to the window!
