Settling nicely into my new flat and neighborhood (Islington!) in London this week. What’s new in your world?
Here’s a little note I wrote myself so I would know which trains to take when I arrived via the overnight plane to Heathrow. That way my sleep-deprived brain wouldn’t have to figure out the London tube.
The front view from the flat is pretty adorable. I think I’ll be quite content here for the next month!
One of my favorite things about visiting foreign countries is doing mundane everyday things like standing on line at the post office to get stamps, and grocery shopping at the local supermarket. The different messages and branding you see in a familiar context is weirdly thrilling for me.
I was impressed that Marks & Spencer has an entire aisle of gluten-free bread options.
Check out the awesome gum packaging! Hot air balloons rule.
Lavender-scented tissues. Genius.
And, how about this sparkling water flavor?
Did you know band-aids are called “plasters,” in the UK? I sure didn’t!
You guys, canned corn in a box!!!
Love this pale blue Fiat color. I’d miss mine, except I’d be terrified of accidentally driving on the wrong side of the road if I had it here.
Some locals perusing the shops and stands in Islington.
It’s so fun to have a new approach to everyday things. Have you ever tried driving across town to shop at a different store, or walking a different route home at random, just to shake things up? I always find some magical little delight happens, or a thought occurs to me in a new way. Nothing like a fresh perspective.
Have an inspired weekend!
