California, Here I Come

I am eager to announce that I will be coming to southern California for child, baby, and family photo sessions from February 24-28, 2012.  I love the light in California — the original Hollywood filmmakers knew what they were doing when they set up shop there.  I previously spent a good amount of time there, during my stint as production coordinator of The People’s Choice Awards.  It’s always wonderful to go back and capture people in that glorious California sunlight.

Newborn Portraiture – Jan. & Feb. Giveaways

The arrival of your baby is monumental — it’s one of the few times in your life that practically everything is put on hold so that you can prepare the way for this precious new life to begin.  While this time will inevitably be ripe with questions and newness, it is important to make a point to try to drink in the experience, no matter how sleep-deprived you are.  Your child will only be a few days old this one time; the days will quickly turn to months and years.  Everyone should get a document of when they were counting the days and hours, measuring the moments, when all else in life is on “pause.”

For the months of January and February 2012, I am offering a weekly drawing for a newborn session for a family in the Cleveland area.  The winner will receive an in-home shoot* of their newborn baby, online proofing, and one digital file of their choosing.  The drawing is for parents (new clients only) whose due date falls within that week, and the shoot must be scheduled within the first 12 days after the baby is born to qualify.  It’s my way of helping Cleveland families relish and savor one of the most glorious moments of their lives — the arrival of a precious new baby.

Holiday Prep 2011

The images shown here are a few of my favorite shots from my latest NYC trip, capturing expressive moments for my clients to share with their families and friends.  Having themselves captured on camera, they can share their sweet faces with everyone who cares about them, near and far, on their yearly holiday cards.  I’m enamoured with this tradition. I’ve set aside a special place in my home to showcase photo cards, as they start rolling in.

This year, I’m offering a unique, new product.  It’s a flat metal ornament featuring the photo of your choice.  I have to say, I believe this might very well be the perfect grandparent gift!  Price is $35.00.  Email [email protected] to start customizing yours.

And, it’s not too late to book a session this year.  I’ll do my best to accommodate all I can before the holidays.  Email [email protected] for availability.

Creating Heirlooms Photo Workshop Series

I am delighted to announce the opening of registration for my new photo workshop series, Creating Heirlooms.  The next workshop will take place January 24th and 26th at the Gallery at the Old Stone Church in Downtown Cleveland.  Click here to register.

Before the baby arrives, while the kids or grand-kids are young, any time you realize time’s fleetingness… be sure to make time to learn the basics of photography.  The ability to meaningfully document the early days of your child’s life will become priceless.  That’s the funny thing about time – you can’t go back.  So, learn to capture your shot going forward, and you’ll always have photos to cherish.

New York City Family Shoots – Fall 2011

One of the highlights of my job is that I sometimes get to bear witness to parents coming up with brilliant ideas for photos — like sticking an infant into a pumpkin for Halloween.  I had tears in my eyes, we were laughing so hard when this photo was created (it was a team effort getting him in there, to be sure!).  I even lit him like a jack-o-lantern.

This was actually the very last shot from my whirlwind October trip to NYC: Queens, DUMBO, Central Park, Tribeca, Nolita, and then some!  I photographed families and kids all over town, and was fully booked for the 3 days I was there.  If you didn’t get a session and would like one before the holidays, never fear, I’ve added 2 more NYC dates this fall: November 19th & 20th.

Email bookings for availability.

Kids Photography in Tremont

Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood boasts some of the coolest backdrops, with all kinds of old architecture and details, amongst tree-lined streets and flower beds.  I am ecstatic to be living here!  Here are a few shots I captured of my niece and nephew as they ran around, when they visited me a few weeks back.  Whether candid or more deliberate, photography in Tremont has all kinds of character.  If you’re interested in setting up a creative family shoot in the neighborhood I now call home, contact bookings.

NYC Families

This summer, I got to work with some wonderful families, shooting on location all around New York City.  From Brooklyn to Tribeca, and all the way up to the Conservatory Gardens in Central Park (and many places in between!), these photos showcase some of the fun adventures I had the chance to capture with young New Yorkers and their parents.
