Holiday Prep 2011

The images shown here are a few of my favorite shots from my latest NYC trip, capturing expressive moments for my clients to share with their families and friends.  Having themselves captured on camera, they can share their sweet faces with everyone who cares about them, near and far, on their yearly holiday cards.  I’m enamoured with this tradition. I’ve set aside a special place in my home to showcase photo cards, as they start rolling in.

This year, I’m offering a unique, new product.  It’s a flat metal ornament featuring the photo of your choice.  I have to say, I believe this might very well be the perfect grandparent gift!  Price is $35.00.  Email [email protected] to start customizing yours.

And, it’s not too late to book a session this year.  I’ll do my best to accommodate all I can before the holidays.  Email [email protected] for availability.

Cleveland on Impossible Film

As part of the “Welcome Back, Cleveland” show at the Greenhouse Tavern, I shot these images on Impossible Film using an old Polaroid camera from Aperture in Tremont.  The black and white shot of Cleveland’s School Board was also featured in the Pop Royalty benefit auction show at Spaces.

Unsold prints will soon be available in my Etsy store, which you can visit by clicking here.

And, all of the images shown in this post are available as 10×10 mounted prints for $75.00 each, by custom order.  They would make a wonderful gift for a lover of art, a lover of Cleveland, or a lover of all things “city.”  Mounted prints are ideal for hanging with or without a frame.

Email [email protected] with any questions.

KIDS IN SPACE: Documenting the Child’s Perspective of Architectural Design

NO. 3 – Downtown Cleveland

panel commentary

architect  Humans – like all animals – possess an exquisitely attuned spatial sense. Unfortunately, because we are so caught up in own inner worlds, most adults are not very observant. Children instinctively know how to inhabit space. An enormous, ornate space like this one can be overwhelming at first. Wisely, Evelyn holds to the edge, placing herself squarely in the floor pattern that rings the space. While an adult would stride right over it, never noticing the difference, Evelyn senses the power of threshold, even when marked only in the ground plane.   She is captivated by the metal grating, perhaps by the way her own shadow dances on its slender bars. Or maybe she’s curious to catch a glimpse of what lies below.   Evelyn climbs the stairs with determination and daring, delighting in this chance to move vertically rather than horizontally. Each step is huge and must be negotiated with care. The railing is higher than her head yet she gamely makes use of it. Imagine yourself scaling two-foot high steps clinging to a six-foot railing! –Julie Gabrielli, Go for Change

Kids Photography in Tremont

Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood boasts some of the coolest backdrops, with all kinds of old architecture and details, amongst tree-lined streets and flower beds.  I am ecstatic to be living here!  Here are a few shots I captured of my niece and nephew as they ran around, when they visited me a few weeks back.  Whether candid or more deliberate, photography in Tremont has all kinds of character.  If you’re interested in setting up a creative family shoot in the neighborhood I now call home, contact bookings.

Cleveland Wedding

I don’t often post weddings to this site (in fact, I have a whole separate wedding blog, if you’re interested: click here), but this one was very special to me because it was my dear cousin’s.  Actually, I had the honor of being a bridesmaid that day, as well as the privilege of photographing my gorgeous cousin and her handsome groom for their portrait session after the ceremony.

Hello, Cleveland!

I’m ecstatic to announce my first group show opening in Cleveland at the Greenhouse Tavern on Sunday, September 25th.  Along with five other brilliant local photographers, I’m part of “Welcome Back Cleveland, an Analogue Perspective of the New / Old City We Call Home.”  Expect an awesome opening party.  More details coming soon!

Toy Camera Analog Archives

My photography colleague, Scott Meivogel, at Aperture photo shop has a mantra: “Analog is a lifestyle.”  Scott sells the coolest array of old Polaroids, vintage cameras, and film stock, and he’s been inspiring me to experiment more with film — something I have always loved.

In fact, speaking with Scott recently inspired me to pull out some of my old favorite analog shots from years past: I’ve shot tons of analog photos of kids and weddings on assignment, travel shots of Paris, Rome, and New York, and more.

Thank You, New York

It’s been 9.5 years since I relocated to New York City. I’ve had amazing opportunities to work with gifted people on films, film festivals, photo shoots, advertisements, and TV shows. I’ve collaborated with amazing artists, actors, actresses, and musicians. I’ve had the honor of photographing dozens and dozens of couples and families. It’s been quite a journey from exploring all that New York had to offer me in the entertainment industry, to launching my business as a wedding photographer, to transitioning to a thriving family, baby, and child photography specialty.

I have been literally bombarded with inspiration here, from my peers, from my competitors, from my mentors. I am bursting with new ideas, including new mediums, new ways of expression, new services to offer my clients, and new services that will serve the needs of new clients.
